Roger Dooley – Director
Roger joined Kirbys in 1990 from Leeds and became a partner in 1993. He heads the Property Department and specialises in commercial transactions.

Alison Gray – Director
Alison is a partner in the Family Law Department, having qualified in 1995, she joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2003. Alison has over 20 years’ experience specialising in all aspects of family law matters. She has particular expertise in complex financial cases, especially those involving family businesses. Alison also specialises in cases involving unmarried couples, in particular disputes between co-habitees. She frequently acts for clients including company directors, individuals in the police and armed forces and medical professionals. Alison also has extensive experience in private law children proceedings, including residence, shared residence and contact disputes and in particular, assisting grandparents in securing contact with their grandchildren. She is recognised for her “attention to detail” and her no nonsense effective approach in agreeing financial matters. Alison is a member of Resolution and an accredited Collaborative Lawyer.

Amanda Lee – Director
Amanda Lee joined Kirbys as a partner in 2013 from Clarion of Leeds. Amanda brings with her considerable experience having previously developed the private client team in Ilkley as a Partner for six years at Last Cawthra Feather. Amanda advises and deals with a family’s wealth, from the drafting of their Wills and Powers of Attorney for finance and property or health and welfare, pilot trusts, lifetime trusts and cross option agreements for family companies. Amanda also specialises in advising the elderly and is a full member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Amanda develops long term relationships and trust with individuals and families which goes hand in hand with offering the correct legal advice. Navigating clients through stressful times, periods of change and ensuring that they decide on the most suitable decisions for their particular circumstances.

David Dow – Director
David qualified as a Solicitor in 1991 and has specialises in contentious and dispute resolution work. David was a Senior Lecturer at the College of Law (now the University of Law) and lectured in Litigation and Dispute Resolution. He also co-wrote the College’s text on Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence published by College of Law Press. He joined the firm in 2013 as an Associate Solicitor. His areas of interest include commercial disputes, disputes involving wills and estates and professional negligence.

Mark Hutchinson – Consultant
Mark joined the firm in 1990 having read law at Oxford and worked in both London and Leeds. He became a partner in 1992 and is head of the Estate Planning and Administration Department. Mark is a Consultant and specialises in trusts, inheritance tax planning and estate planning.

Jeremy Holroyd – Consultant
Jeremy qualified in 1971 and joined Kirbys in 2009 when Kirbys and Atkinson McCall. Jeremy is a Consultant and deals with property and private client work including all related financial transactions and particularly agricultural property.

Elizabeth Balmforth – Solicitor
Elizabeth qualified in 1996 having previously worked in Leeds and joined the firm’s Property Department in December 2006. In 2012 she was promoted to the position of Associate Solicitor. Elizabeth specialises in all aspects of residential and commercial property work, both freehold and leasehold.

Sara Spencer – STEP
Sara joined Kirbys in 2017 and deals with trusts and estate administration. Sara brings a wealth of experience in trusts and tax planning. Sara qualified as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Tax in 1997, and of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners in 2009. She has previously worked in London and Leeds for two of the biggest accounting firms and a leading law firm and has spent the last fifteen years specialising in trusts, and all aspects of their tax and planning.

Tom Craven – Solicitor
Tom qualified as a Solicitor in 2009 having trained with a commercial practice in West Yorkshire. Prior to joining Kirbys in 2017 he worked for a firm with branches across the North East and Yorkshire undertaking all kinds of commercial transactions across a wide range of business sectors. Tom specialises in commercial and agricultural transactions as well as complex residential property matters. He is able to advise clients on all manner of leasehold, new-build properties and high-value transactions.

Carole Gibbs – Solicitor
Carole qualified as a solicitor in 1991 having trained in Surrey and Leeds. Carole specialises in trusts and estate planning for individuals and families as well as all aspects of wills and probate related matters. She is also able to advise clients on all aspects of the law relating to Powers of Attorney. She is also qualified as a Full Member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners).
