There may come a point where you no longer have the mental capacity to decide upon matters related to your property, finances or indeed your overall welfare. For this, you will need to appoint someone you trust to act under a Lasting Power of Attorney on your behalf.
Here at Kirbys Solicitors Limited we have specialists who can help you by setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney to protect your future and also to safeguard your rights should the need for it ever arise.
Once we have received all the required information from you we will aim to have drafted the documents within 14 days. We will then arrange an appointment with you to discuss the documents and arrange for you to sign them. Once we have confirmed all of the documentation we will send them to your attorneys with instructions on how they should sign them.
Once all parties have signed the documents we will then submit the Lasting Power of Attorney to the Office of the Public Guardian (“OPG”) to register the document. The registration process can take between 10 to 14 weeks before we receive the Lasting Power of Attorney back from the OPG.
At the time of publishing, the Office of the Public Guardian registration fees are £82.00 (No VAT) to register each LPA, so to register both types of Lasting Power of Attorney will cost £164.00 per person.
